Altona is a small farming town in west-central Illinois, about 15 miles from the Quad Cities. Take Route 17 east from US 150 near Galesburg, or head south from I-74 through the Quad Cities area. The town sits in classic Midwest prairie country with corn and bean fields stretching in all directions. A working grain elevator from the early 1900s still dominates the skyline.
