Alton is a small Ozark town of 744 people in Oregon County, Missouri, where Highway 160 crosses the North Fork River. The main route in is Highway 160 from West Plains, about 25 miles west, while Highway 19 provides north-south access. Most visitors come for the clear spring-fed river that runs right through town, where you can still drive across the old low-water bridge with the North Fork flowing just inches below your tires.
