Alto is a small north Georgia town of about 1,000 people in the Appalachian foothills. Take I-985 north from Atlanta for 45 miles, then Route 365 north for 20 miles to reach the town center at the intersection with Dicks Hill Parkway. The area's rolling hills and apple orchards make it popular for weekend trips from metro Atlanta. Alto hosts the annual Georgia Apple Festival each October.
