Altamont is a small mountain town of 1,300 people serving as Grundy County's seat in Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau. Reach it via State Route 56 from Interstate 24 near Monteagle, about 30 miles southeast, or SR-108 from the north. The 1936 brick courthouse anchors the historic town square.
