Altamont is a tiny farming community in northwest Missouri, 80 miles northeast of Kansas City via I-35 and Highway 36. Highway 13 runs north-south through town, connecting to Highway 36 for east-west travel. The area serves local agricultural communities within a 50-mile radius. The town's historic one-room schoolhouse from 1902 remains standing.
