Alpine is a mountain-base city in Utah County, 30 miles south of Salt Lake City via I-15. Take Exit 287 to State Route 74 east for the main approach. The scenic Alpine Loop road (SR-92) connects to American Fork Canyon but closes in winter. This community of 10,400 sits at 4,500-5,000 feet elevation with cooler temperatures than the valley floor. The July Alpine Days parade showcases the city's tree-lined streets and spacious lots.
