Almena is a small farming town in north-central Kansas, accessible via US Highway 183 which runs north-south through wheat country. Most visitors arrive from I-70 at Ellis, then drive 45 miles north on US 183. The massive grain elevator visible for miles serves as both landmark and symbol of the area's agricultural heritage.
