Alma is a tiny Mississippi River town in western Wisconsin where Highway 35 winds between limestone bluffs and the water. Most visitors arrive via the scenic Great River Road from La Crosse (30 miles south) or from Minnesota via Highway 61. The town of 788 people sits at Lock and Dam No. 4, where you can watch barges navigate the lock system while bald eagles circle overhead.
