Alma is a small farming town in south-central Nebraska that serves as Harlan County's seat. Located along Highways 183 and 136, it's about 30 miles south of Holdrege in rolling prairie country. The town of roughly 1,150 people sits in productive agricultural land near the Republican River. Its 1930s Art Deco courthouse, built from local limestone, dominates the town square.
