Allendale is a small river town in southeastern Illinois, home to about 500 people along the Wabash River. Route 1 runs right through town, connecting north to I-64 and south toward Kentucky. Most visitors arrive from Mount Carmel, 15 miles north, or other Wabash County communities. The town sits directly on the Indiana border with actual riverfront access.
