Allen is a tiny farming community in south-central Michigan's Hillsdale County, about 15 miles southwest of Hillsdale via State Route 99. Most visitors reach the area from I-94 or US-12 to the south, then follow connecting roads north through agricultural countryside. The village sits in rolling farmland typical of this part of Michigan, with continental climate bringing snowy winters and warm summers. Allen's historic one-room schoolhouse from 1876 still stands as a testament to the area's 19th-century roots.
