Alexander is a tiny farming town of 24 people in central Kansas wheat country, reached via Highway 96 which cuts east-west through Rush County. The nearest major city is Hays, about 40 miles northeast via Highway 183 south. Local routes connect to Rush Center and La Crosse for services. The town's century-old grain elevator still operates and serves as a landmark visible for miles across the flat prairie landscape.
