Alex is a farming town of about 530 people in central Oklahoma, 30 miles southwest of Oklahoma City via Highway 9. The main route takes I-35 south to I-240 west, then Highway 9 through Newcastle and Blanchard. Highway 76 connects north to Purcell and south to Lindsay. The town sits in rolling prairie with hot summers and mild winters typical of the southern Great Plains. Its working grain elevator still serves local farms and stands as a visible landmark across the flat countryside.
