Aledo is a farming community in western Illinois, about 45 miles from the Quad Cities via US Highway 67. The town serves as Mercer County's seat, surrounded by corn and soybean fields. Route 17 runs east-west through downtown, while Highway 67 provides the main connection north to Rock Island and south to Monmouth. The red sandstone courthouse from 1896 dominates the town square with its prominent clock tower.
