Alden sits along Highway 20 in north-central Iowa, about 15 miles west of Iowa Falls and 20 miles east of I-35. Most visitors arrive via Highway 20 from either Des Moines (taking I-35 north) or the Cedar Falls area. The town of 833 people sits amid rolling farmland typical of central Iowa. Downtown features a restored 1920s movie theater that still operates on weekends with its original tin ceiling intact.
