Alcan Border, AK

united states

Alcan Border marks where the Alaska Highway crosses from Alaska into Canada's Yukon Territory. This remote outpost of three residents operates the border checkpoint along Route 2, about 90 miles east of Tok and 200 miles from Fairbanks. Most traffic consists of long-distance travelers completing the full Alaska Highway journey between the Lower 48 and Alaska's interior. The facility maintains 24-hour operations despite being one of North America's most isolated staffed border crossings.
