Albany lies in Oregon's Willamette Valley along I-5, about 70 miles south of Portland. Highway 20 cuts east-west through downtown, connecting the coast to the Cascades, while Highway 99E runs parallel to the interstate. The city sits where the Willamette and Calapooia rivers meet, surrounded by farmland and timber country. Downtown features a working 1909 Dentzel carousel with hand-carved animals at the Historic Carousel and Museum.
