Albany, the state capital, sits along the Hudson River about 150 miles north of NYC. I-87 runs north-south through the city, connecting to Manhattan in 2.5 hours and Montreal in 3 hours. I-90 crosses east-west toward Boston and Buffalo. The area gets heavy lake-effect snow in winter. The State Capitol's Million Dollar Staircase features over 300 carved stone faces from the 1800s.
