Albany is a small Mississippi River town in northwestern Illinois, about 140 miles west of Chicago via I-88 and US 67. The most scenic approach follows the Great River Road on Route 84 along the Mississippi. Despite having fewer than 800 residents, Albany maintains one of the region's last hand-operated swing bridges over the Rock River.
