Alameda occupies an island in San Francisco Bay, connected by several bridges and tunnels to Oakland and the mainland. Take I-880 to the Park Street or Fruitvale bridges, or use the underwater Posey and Webster tubes. The former naval air station now hosts film studios where major Hollywood productions shoot on the old military runways.
