Akron is a farming town in northwest Iowa, about 45 miles from Sioux City via Highway 75 north to Highway 12 east. Most traffic uses Highway 12 for the 12-mile commute to Le Mars or continues to Sioux City for work and shopping. The restored 1913 opera house downtown still hosts live theater productions.
