Akhiok is one of Alaska's most remote villages, sitting on Kodiak Island's southern tip with no road access. You can only get there by small plane through Akhiok Airport or by boat during summer. The 160 residents live in an Alutiiq community that's maintained its Russian Orthodox traditions for over two centuries, including services held in the native Alutiiq language.
