Akeley is a tiny lake country town in north-central Minnesota, home to 289 people and surrounded by forests and lakes. Highway 34 runs right through town, connecting to Park Rapids and Walker, while visitors from Minneapolis typically drive up Highway 371 through Brainerd. The town features a giant Paul Bunyan statue where you can actually sit in his hand for photos.
