Advance is a small farming town in southeastern Missouri, surrounded by cotton and soybean fields in the Mississippi River valley. Highway 25 runs north-south through town, while Route 91 provides east-west access to Dexter and the Arkansas border. Most longer trips go through Cape Girardeau or Sikeston to reach major highways. The town still maintains one of Missouri's few working one-room schoolhouses.
