Abilene sits on Interstate 70 in central Kansas, about 150 miles west of Kansas City. The town serves as a convenient stop for cross-country travelers, with I-70 as the main route and Highway 15 providing north-south access. Most visitors come from Kansas City (2.5 hours) or continue west toward Denver. The boyhood home of President Eisenhower anchors downtown, preserved exactly as it appeared when he lived there in the early 1900s.
