Abercrombie is a tiny farming town of 232 people in southeastern North Dakota, just eight miles from Minnesota. Take I-29 north from Fargo for 25 miles, then Highway 81 east for three miles. The town sits in flat Red River valley farmland and is home to Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site, North Dakota's first military post from 1857.
